Mulching
We utilize two types of Mulching Heads on tracked equipment
This processing unit mulches almost 95%+ of the cut material. The size of the finished product can be controlled by the variable pitch debris door working in conjunction with two additional internal cutting bars. This finely mulched material will decompose over time adding to soil vitality. Our Mulching head has quickly cut down and mulched trees 10-12" in diameter. Our use has shown superior performance with this technology in material 2" and greater in diameter. The Excavator based head also allows us to trim back tree branches to the trunk. Flail mowers leave 2-4" of branch stubble.
A Tracked Loader is a superior performing unit on flat and rolling grounds versus the Excavator by many times. The Excavator out performs Tracked Loader for 'over the fence/reaching', tree trimming, banked roads and areas of high angle terrain. |
Slashing/CuttingWe utilize two Flail Mowers on tracked equipment.
These processing units are for smaller brush cutting quickly. Common obnoxious weeds and plants less than 1-1.5" in diameter can be quickly cut down into a fine material. Flail head mowers will cut this material faster than the Mulching Head in many instances hence why Flail heads are used on road side clean up by DOT. This option leaves chopped material on the ground generally not as fine a material as the mulching head when dealing with larger brush. Flailing is more a slashing/cutting function versus true mulching. This option can be very cost effective when removing the smaller Blackberry, Scotch broom, field and brush grasses/weeds.
